About the service
Does VoidStream come with channels?
No. VoidStream supplies no channels, films or series. It plays the sources you add: IPTV playlists, Xtream and Stalker Portal services, and your own Plex and Jellyfin servers. See Supported sources.
How much does it cost?
There are no plans or prices yet. Plans and payments are not built, and nothing is charged during the pre-release preview.
Is it available to the public?
Not yet. VoidStream is a pre-release preview. The app is not in any app store, and accounts, payments and playback are not yet available to the public.
Can I create an account now?
Only while the development sign-up is open. If it is, the sign-up page on voidstream.tv shows the Create your account form; if not, it says Accounts aren't open yet. Accounts created now are test accounts: the email address is not verified, and the account may be reset before launch.
Privacy and your data
Does my video go through VoidStream's servers?
No. The stream goes straight from your provider to your player. VoidStream keeps your sign-in, profiles and the list of your sources, never the stream.
What happens to my provider password?
It is stored sealed and is never shown again, not even to you. For Jellyfin, VoidStream signs in once to check the server and does not keep the password. If you need to change a source's details later, you replace the connection rather than reading the old one back.
Does the app send analytics or crash reports?
The app measures how it is used and what each adult profile watches, to improve VoidStream. Nobody is asked and there is no switch; kids profiles are never measured. The privacy policy at voidstream.tv/privacy explains what is collected, how long it is kept and how to object. Crash reporting is separate and on until you turn it off in Settings › Privacy & personalisation: a short report of what failed, the app version and your device model, sent to VoidStream's own server, never what you watch, your sources, sign-ins or account.
Using it
Which devices does it run on?
It is built for Fire TV, Android TV, NVIDIA Shield, Android, iOS, macOS and Windows, with a Roku channel planned. See Platforms for the status of each.
How do I sign in on a TV without typing my password?
The TV shows a 4-digit code and a QR code. Scan the code with your phone, or open the link the TV shows, sign in there and approve the code. The TV finishes signing in by itself.
Can different people in my home have their own space?
Yes. Each account has profiles, each with its own favourites, history and preferences. A kids profile only shows content up to an age you choose and blocks anything unrated. An account parental PIN stops children leaving a kids profile.
Can I record programmes?
No. Recording is not built.
Can I watch sources on my home network?
Not yet. Sources must be reachable over the internet. Local-network connections are not available in this build.
Can I rewind or pause live TV?
You can pause and resume. Rewinding live TV is not available yet.
