What VoidStream is
Development documentation: the app and production API are not released.
What you can do here: understand what VoidStream does with your sources, and what it deliberately never does.
One guide and one player
Most households that pay for IPTV, or run a Plex or Jellyfin server, end up with several apps that each look and behave differently. VoidStream brings those sources into one interface:
- One guide for live channels from every source, with what is on now and next.
- One library of films and series, gathered from every source into shared rows such as Continue watching and Recently added to your library.
- One player, with the same remote controls everywhere.
- One household, with profiles for each person, kids profiles with age limits, and a parental PIN.
The television is where you watch. The website, voidstream.tv, is where you do the fiddly jobs: approving a TV sign-in code, typing long provider addresses, and managing profiles, devices and sources.
What VoidStream is not
VoidStream hosts, stores and sells no media. It is not a channel provider and it has no catalogue of its own.
- Every stream comes from a source you configured and are authorised to use.
- VoidStream does not pass your video through its servers. The stream travels straight from your provider to the screen you are watching.
- VoidStream keeps your sign-in, your profiles and the list of your sources. The details you give for a source are stored sealed and are never shown again, not even to you.
What VoidStream keeps, and what it doesn't
| VoidStream keeps | VoidStream never keeps |
|---|---|
| Your account email and password (as a secure hash) | Video, or copies of it |
| Your profiles, their icons, limits and PIN settings | A catalogue of channels or films of its own |
| The list of your sources, with their details sealed | Your provider's content on its servers |
| Names, schedules and artwork details your TV downloads, on that TV | Payment details (plans and payments are not built yet) |
Where it stands today
VoidStream is a pre-release preview. Accounts, payments and playback are not yet available to the public. What exists today is described in these guides; anything not built yet is named as such.
